BAR HARBOR-(June 29) On July 6th a group of Junior Olympians are to visit Great Cranberry Island for a mini training camp hosted by MDI Marathon officials

The group is comprised of 10 young men and 12 young women, ages 14 through 19 (those that qualify for junior status with USATF), and are all distance athletes traveling from Oregon, Texas, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine. Eight of these athletes competed last week at the Home Depot USATF National Championships in Carson, California. Three of the girls placed in the top six, named all-americans, and will represent the United States in Finland later this summer. Three of the boys also did the same and the top ranked boy in the country will be with at our training camp. The other athletes represent up and coming young athletes that have shown promise for advancing into the national level competition in the next year or so.

Vince Peters - OH - College track coach, USATF Master Level Official, National Racewalk Coordinator for USATF.

Maryanne Daniels - CT - Racewalk coach, USATF Master Level Official, Former Bronze Medalist in the Pan Am Games, National masters recordholder, specializes in visualization and motivation.

Steve Vaitones - MA - National Coordinator for the USATF Junior Racewalk Program, etc., etc.,

Mary Helen Baldwin - ME - USATF National Level Track and Field Official, Racewalk Coach

Dr. Tom Eastler - ME - USATF Master Level Official, College and high school Racewalk Coach.

David Baldwin - ME - USATF National Level Track and Field Official, Racewalk Coach, Masters Racewalk Competitor

Jasmine Brooks- ME - Collegiate Racewalker, Former Maine High School Racewalk State Champion
